Unity Week

April is National Interprofessional Health Care Month!  To celebrate, we will host our annual Unity Week (previously ID/IPE Week) during April 20-24, 2026. 


The week will feature information or activities related to interdisciplinary/interprofessional education. All campus community members are invited to participate in events through the week.

Programming for April 20-24, 2026

  • Monday, 4/20: Self-Guided Neighborhood Tours
    • We have a unique opportunity and privilege to serve the neighborhood directly around the OU Health Campus. We also have the responsibility to be knowledgeable about the history of our community, see important local landmarks with our own eyes, and understand the resources and spaces available to our patients and clients.The Neighborhood Tour takes approximately 90-120 minutes using a guided roadmap. Tours start with the Land Run launch site and visit areas adjacent to the OU Health Campus. Key stops include: Deep Duce, Harrison Walnut and John F. Kennedy neighborhoods, Jewel Theater, Page Woodson, Willa Johnson Rec Center, and the local convenience and grocery stores.
  • Tuesday, 4/21, 5-5:30 PM: Unity Appreciation Awards, Zoom
    • A ceremony to recognize and celebrate the dedicated service by our students, faculty, staff, and community partners in support of the interprofessional experience at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences.

  • Tuesday, 4/21, All Day: Virtual Student-led Poster Hall, Online
    • The annual Unity Week poster hall for undergraduate, graduate, professional students, and residents from across campus to showcase their work and promote unity across a multitude of health care fields of study.

  • Monday, 4/21: Tell Me About Your Poster - An asynchronous research communication workshop
    • A short workshop for Poster Hall presenters featuring methods for effective communication techniques when presenting to interprofessional audiences. Objectives include: Describe the Student Poster Hall format, demonstrate methods for communicating to an interprofessional audience, practice giving a two minute presentation about your research/poster.

  • Tuesday, 4/22, 5-5:30 PM: Unity Appreciation Awards, Nicholson Tower 5th Floor Auditorium and on Zoom
  • Tuesday, 4/22, 5:30-6:30 PM: Student-led Poster Hall, Nicholson Tower 5th Floor Conference Room A
    • The annual Unity Week poster hall for undergraduate, graduate, professional students, and residents from across campus to showcase their work and promote unity across a multitude of health care fields of study.

  • Thursday, 4/24: Talk to Team: Communication & Rapid Team Formation - An asynchronous workshop on teaming skills
    • A workshop focused on learning about and practicing communication techniques supporting Rapid Team Formation. Objectives include: describe Tuckman’s Model of Team Formation, demonstrate methods of effective communication, and practice rapid team formation in a case study.

  • Friday, 4/25, 11:30 AM-12:30 PM: Enhancing Patient Advocacy through Interdisciplinary Communication Keynote, on Zoom
    • The week concludes with a keynote presentation on Enhancing Patient Advocacy through Interdisciplinary Communication from David Ha, DNP, APRN-CNP, FNP-C, Clinical Assistant Professor in the Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing.

  • Tuesday, 4/23, 5-5:30 PM: Unity Appreciation Awards, Nicholson Tower 5th Floor Auditorium
    • A ceremony to recognize and celebrate the dedicated service by our students, faculty, staff, and community partners in support of the expansion of the interprofessional experience at the University of Oklahoma Health 
  • Tuesday, 4/23, 5:30-6:30 PM: Student-led Poster Hall, Nicholson Tower 5th Floor Conference Room A
    • The annual Unity Week poster hall for undergraduate, graduate, professional students, and residents from across campus to showcase their work and promote unity across a multitude of health care fields of study
  • Thursday, 4/25, 2-3 PM: Trauma-informed Care Panel, on Zoom
    • Experts will discuss the importance of trauma-informed care and its tailored implementation across various professions and health care settings. Learn about recognizing trauma symptoms in different environments and navigating common barriers and mistakes within each field.
  • Friday, 4/26, 12-1 PM: Value-Based Care Keynote, on Zoom
    • The week concludes with a keynote presentation on value-based care from Dale W. Bratzler, DO, MPH, Dean of the Hudson College of Public Health.
